Helicopter Twirls Wildly into Palm Trees at Well-Known California Shoreline

A helicopter soaring above a well-attended California shoreline abruptly commenced twirling out of control, eventually losing altitude and plunging into a line of palm trees as beachgoers watched.

Recordings posted on social media show the aircraft starting to spin near Huntington Beach then falling in the direction of the edge of the shore, where it ends up lodged among palms and a staircase near the Pacific Coast highway.

Emergency Response Information

The Huntington Beach fire department stated five persons were rushed to the hospital including two individuals who were in the aircraft and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” after the incident on Saturday.

Three persons on the street were injured. Specifics on their wounds were not yet released.

The reason for the accident was not yet disclosed.
